As a bonafide fan of professional studio equipment, I have finally found the perfect combination for MY voice. Most projects use the following:

• Harlan Hogan VO:1-A
  
• dbx286a microphone preamp (pre only, no eq or compression)
  
• Apogee ONE interface
• Mac computer (Twisted Wave software)
  

That’s it! When the occasion calls for it, I keep my trusty MicPort Pro nearby for absolutely pure audio. I mainly use it on the road though.

But what good is all that gear without a good room to record in? Thick walls and more foam than you’d see in a padded cell make for a whisper quiet recording environment in my home studio.
